In Autumn 1998 Peter purchased a Left hand drive 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MkII from America. This arrived in January and is now well ahead with being restored and rebuilt with various modifications to make it reliable for long distance rallying.

CHAS

We decided that a project this ambitious should have some purpose other than pleasure (!) and have chosen the Children's Hospice Association, Scotland as the charity we will support.

CHAS was set up to support the 1,300 families in Scotland who have children with terminal illnesses. These children have a lot of living to do in their tragically short lives and the highly trained staff at Rachel House are dedicated to providing love, care and support for all the members of those families.

We aim to be the car that raises most money for charity.

SAHC CLUB

Many people have said ' I wish I could come with you ' Well, you can. We intend to emulate Richard Noble and his Mach 1 club and form a 'Supporters of the Austin Healey Challenge' Club. (CHAS in reverse). The aims of the club are simple:

  • To involve as many people as possible in the preparation and planning of the project.
  • Take them with us in spirit through the power of the media, newsletters and the Internet.
  • To help with the funding of the project.
  • To raise awareness of the work that CHAS does for the families of terminally ill children.
  • Provide a platform for raising donations and pledges for CHAS.
